Gamma: Workflow, Plan Limits and Evaluation

AI Tools Ratings Content updated Sources & review method

Creates presentation and document drafts from prompts or imported material, with sharing and export choices.

Who should consider Gamma

Teams preparing an initial narrative for a proposal, lesson or project update. It is most useful when the structure needs work before pixel-level slide polishing.

Features and pricing

Gamma lists presentations, documents and websites, PDF/PPTX import and exports including PDF, PPTX and Google Slides. Free supports up to ten slides per prompt; paid plans add branding and broader AI access.

A Free plan is available. The inspected public text did not expose a reliable paid checkout amount, so paid pricing is unverified here. Slide count per prompt is not a promise of unlimited generations; confirm AI usage, workspace seats and custom-domain entitlements separately.

A practical evaluation task

Create a six-slide project update from a supplied brief with three milestones, two risks and a decision request. Use only the figures in the brief and mark any missing fact.

Provide the audience, presentation length, approved numbers and the exact decision needed. Review the outline before styling. Export to the format your team actually edits, then reopen the file outside Gamma.

What a useful result must pass

Check that no metric was invented, each risk still has an owner and the requested decision is obvious. Inspect line wrapping, tables and any image attribution after export. Record how many manual edits are needed to make the deck meeting-ready.

Limits and data access

A polished draft can make unsupported statements look authoritative. Review document-sharing permissions before sending a link; an editable workspace and a public presentation are different exposure levels. Export support does not guarantee exact visual fidelity.

Alternatives and tradeoffs

Compare Napkin for a single explanatory visual. Keep an established slide editor when brand templates, precise layouts and existing presentation workflows matter more than generating the first draft.
