What task is this skill designed for?
Start a bounded task on an appropriately named branch. Useful when a team wants consistent branch names without losing track of which existing branch provides the starting commit.
What input and output should you expect?
Input: Provide a task description, current branch, working-tree status and the intended base. Include any repository naming rules that supersede the source defaults.
Output: A suggested branch name and base, or a newly created branch when execution is requested. The source checks existing local and remote names before selecting a suffix.
What does it need to run?
Git plus a readable local repository. Remote default-branch information may be useful; when unavailable, the workflow has fallback base selection.
Publisher documents Claude Code installation and skills.sh support for compatible agents including Cursor, Cline and GitHub Copilot. Host permissions and invocation behavior still require validation.
How should you approach installation?
- Read the pinned SKILL.md and repository LICENSE; compare project-specific conventions with your own instructions.
- Follow the publisher installation guidance for your host, retaining the full skill folder and references; begin in a disposable repository with minimal permissions.
- Run the suggested draft or read-only trial, review its acceptance checklist, and grant write or remote permissions only for the intended task.

What files, accounts or data can it access?
Creates a local branch and changes the active checkout; this is not an isolated worktree. Remote-name inspection can use repository metadata, while task context goes to the host model.
What does the skill cost?
No separate Skill purchase price is stated in the reviewed repository. The host agent subscription or model usage is separate; repository services and any authorized CI jobs may add costs. A local drafting trial does not require paid remote execution.
What are its limits and alternatives?
Uncommitted files remain a concern across branch changes. A fallback base is not proof that it is the team-approved integration branch; detached HEAD and stacked branches need deliberate review.
Use a separate Git worktree for concurrent tasks requiring filesystem isolation, or name the branch manually for established ticket-based conventions.
What could you ask in a small trial?
Try this with a small sample:
Propose a branch for fixing empty CSV fields from the current feature branch. Show the intended base and how you would handle an existing branch of that name. Do not execute Git changes; report any dirty files that need attention.
How would you verify the result?
- The proposed base matches the explicitly requested starting point.
- The name is readable, valid and does not collide with known branches.
- No checkout, stash, reset or deletion occurs during this planning trial.
Use a baseline and record acceptance evidence before treating a successful task as a reliable workflow.
