What is Orkas?

Orkas is a desktop AI workspace for macOS and Windows that coordinates specialist agents around project files, reports, presentations and development tasks.

Pricing and access

The site offers a free desktop download and a free plan with starting credits. Built-in services consume credits, while services configured with your own provider key are billed separately by that provider. The pricing page currently displays a sandbox-checkout notice, so verify production purchase availability rather than treating displayed paid plans as a confirmed checkout offer.

When the project model helps

Consider it for repeat work that combines several deliverables, such as a research brief followed by an editable slide deck. Give the project a small, organized source set and define the final files you need. For a single short answer, a general chat assistant may involve less setup and fewer moving parts.

Try a bounded research-to-deck task

Provide two permitted source documents and ask for a five-slide summary with a citation for every numeric claim. Require an uncertainty slide and a separate list of missing evidence. Open the exported deck, check editability and compare each claim with the original passage. Assess correction time as well as visual polish.

Local files and remote requests

The vendor describes local project storage with optional cloud sync, but selected model services can receive prompts and relevant project content. Review each connected service and avoid adding a whole sensitive folder when a few redacted files suffice. Local storage should not be equated with entirely offline inference.

Recurring work needs an operating plan

Automated preparation depends on the assigned device and required services being available. Start with draft-only output and check behavior after sleep, network failure or a missed run. Define a notification threshold and review point before allowing external publishing. A generated file should be checked against its acceptance criteria before it is sent to a client.

Alternatives and selection

Compare Gamma for presentation creation and n8n for explicit workflow automation. They cover parts of the process rather than the same desktop project model. Official product overview.
