ZeroGPT Review: Free Checker, Privacy & Limitations
ZeroGPT is a convenient candidate for a basic text-checking and report workflow. Its public field size is easy to verify; its value depends on how well reports support your review and how its terms fit your documents.
Source checked October 19, 2026. Editorial research; no original accuracy benchmark or hands-on score is claimed.
What ZeroGPT does
ZeroGPT’s official site provides an AI text checker, sentence highlighting, PDF reports and batch upload options. It also promotes other writing services. Plagiarism checking, rewriting and AI-origin estimation answer different questions; buying one service does not imply access to every other tool.
Free checker and subscriptions
The public checker displayed a 15,000-character input field at this check. That number does not establish unlimited free use, a daily quota or a monthly word allowance. Current paid prices and detailed entitlements were not reliably readable from the public pricing page; verify them in checkout before subscribing. We have not confirmed paid batch capacity through an account.

What a useful ZeroGPT check looks like
Start with the complete passage and a question you can investigate: is this a quoted source, a standard definition, an unexplained change of style or an unsupported claim? A percentage without that context rarely tells you the next editorial action. Keep the text and report together, including the date and the visible account state.
Do not cut an article into many tiny pieces until one produces the result you expected. Fragmenting a document changes the input and can remove contextual signals. If size constraints require sections, record the boundaries and do not merge their percentages into a made-up whole-document score.
Important privacy nuance: FAQ versus detailed policy
ZeroGPT’s FAQ says checked text is discarded and recommends at least 150–200 words, with longer prose for stability. Its October 7 privacy policy gives a more qualified picture: private content is not used for model training, while temporary processing, backups, security investigations and intentionally saved account features can involve retention. Read those provisions together before interpreting a short “not saved” statement as absolute zero retention. We have not audited either claim.
For a private manuscript, the practical questions are how the chosen feature handles that manuscript, whether a report is intentionally saved or shared, and how deletion affects backups. A general website privacy summary cannot answer every contract-specific requirement.
Keep detection separate from rewriting
ZeroGPT markets rewriting and other writing tools alongside detection. A rewritten passage getting a lower AI score would show a changed classifier response, not that the ideas are original, the facts are correct or the work complies with a submission policy. For your own work, improve accuracy, attribution and clarity; preserve the drafting trail rather than optimizing for a detector score.
How to assess reports before paying
| Trial step | Useful observation |
|---|---|
| Paste a known human document | Record any flagged passages and what would resolve the concern. |
| Upload the same document | Check whether extraction or formatting changes the result. |
| Export the report | See whether the original text, date and interpretation survive sharing. |
| Inspect account limits | Record what is free, gated, usage-limited or separately billed. |
| Review retention terms | Compare the chosen feature with the detailed policy, not just a banner. |
This trial tests whether a service fits your review process. Five or ten examples do not justify an “accuracy percentage,” especially if all the examples come from the same topic, model or author.
Alternatives by reason to switch
For process evidence, investigate GPTZero. For documented free daily allocation and segmented categories, inspect Pangram. For matching published sources and AI analysis in one system, evaluate Copyleaks. Our GPTZero vs ZeroGPT comparison focuses on those practical differences rather than an unsupported winner.

Frequently asked questions
Is ZeroGPT’s 15,000 limit a word allowance?
No. We observed a character counter. Characters include far more than words, and text length varies by language and spacing. It is an input limit, not proof of a monthly or unlimited free quota.
Does ZeroGPT save text?
Its FAQ gives a simplified discard statement, while the detailed policy describes limited operational retention and saved features. Ask about the exact route and account you intend to use. This review does not certify zero retention.
Can a ZeroGPT result prove that a paper was copied?
No. AI-origin estimation and plagiarism matching address different questions. For copied material, examine matching sources, quotations and attribution in a plagiarism workflow. A detector percentage does not identify the source of an idea.
Should I buy a humanizer after a flag?
A changed detector score is not evidence that a problem has been resolved. First establish whether the passage is accurate, properly sourced and consistent with your own work and the applicable writing rules. A rewriting purchase is not a substitute for that review.
